We just ordered in pizza for tea and now nearly time for alister to get into clean PJs and go back to bed. It's been a lovely calm day but only because i didnt need to get Alister to go anywhere, otherwise it would have been hellish. But we didnt so it wasnt so its all good.

Alister was off for half term Wed-Fri last week. I asked my boss for a few hours off on Thursday afternon and he said to take the whole day, what a result!!! So that was unexpected but much appreciated. I had my first tutorial for my new course on Saturday which was great. It was a really good lively chatty bunch and I got lots from it. I always feel really motivated when I come out of tutorials so hoping to get stuck in to the first part of my first assessment over the next couple of days.

Wendy looked after Alister for me whilst I was there, took him and Ellie down to Molly's soft play at Ocean Terminal and he had a ball. They were in the Build a Bear Workshop and he's decided he would like that for his birthday so nearer the time I will take him over to pick one. Then when I got out of Uni we met at Wannaburger and had a Valentines lunch with our little darlings. Then Al fell asleep going home on the bus, never happens!!!!

Right I'm going to try and convince the boy that he needs to have a bath and put clean PJs on but i think if he kicks up a stink I will let it go, just dont have the energy to fight it tonight.

Night All
Hugs
Jill
xxxxx

 Comments

#76 - a very proud mummy and a happy wee boy

Well the big green family tree went down a storm with Alister's teacher. He told me he stood up in front of the class and explained that his gran and grandad are at the top and the ladies on the tree who are now a Blair have their maiden names shown and that my brothers kids are his cousins. He got a big clap from the whole class. He said he was really jealous because one of his friends did a big family tree too. We had a chat about it and it turns out her mum drew the outline of a tree and his friend stuck on photos of her family and it wasnt coloured in. His was a big green tree he painted himself and he drew pictures of everyone himself and wrote their names. He cheered up loads after that, bless him!

So i went to Dundee today. 1hr 40 mins on bus there and I caught up on 3 programmes i needed to watch for Uni, saw the solicitor, went for a coffee with my mum, got the bus back and got a load of studying done. Alister had gone home from school with his pal Josh and his mum, Steph, and I met them at their house. The boys had their tea then Steph and I had a chinese. Got home about 7.30 and am now a big lazy blob on the sofa. Looking forward to a day in the house tomorrow with no plans.

Alister is off for half term Wed-Fri this week - typical it had to be the days I work! He will come in with me and wath dvds or something. Might take Thursday afternoon off to break the week up a wee bit for him.

Right, think i'll head to bed folks.

Night all.
Big luv
Jill
xxxxx

I left the house, leaving him trashing the place just so I didn't react and give him what he wanted. I took the bins down and had a slow stroll back up the path. Went in to find most rooms in a bit of a state, then got my arm grabbed and alister's nails sunk into me. Still managed to not flinch or speak to him. There's no point when he's like that, he just starts screaming. He learned the bahaviour from me before I got help for my depression etc. Now it's a case of re-educating him into another way, aswell as helping him deal with his anger and controlling his temper. Seeing the school doctor soon about it cos I can't handle it alone.

ANyway we ended up having a really nice day ater all that! We did go to Asda, got stuff for tea then went to my work to see the Radio Cars guys who meet once a month. After that we pinched some paper from my office for Al's homework, dropped that off at home and Alister picked up one of his scooters. We had a walk round to the post office to post a birthday card thn home to get cracking. I made a beef stew and dumplings for tea whilst Alister drew pictures of everyone in the family for his Family Tree homework. We didnt include his dad, no point really cos I dont know anything about his family. So I gave Ally a square of paper for each member of our family and he drew their picture and wrote their name on it. Then we got his easel out and a long bit of paper and he painted a brilliant big tree to stick the pictures too - it looks fantastic! And he was so chilled when he was painting, definitely goingto get him painting lots more. It seems to make him so happy and relaxed and he has a real talent for it.

Then he drew a couple of maps for my cousin Nicola who needs kids drawings for Uni and i'll take them to dundee with me tomorrow. A busy wee aternoon. Al had his bath no bother, cleaned his teeth then snuggled into my bed and he read me 2 stories. His reading is really coming on, he sounds out every word and doesnt get annoyed or frustrated which really isnt like him!

Am now slouched on the sofa watching last nights Casualty before watching Dancing on Ice. Rock & Roll!!

Big luv,
Jill
xxxxx

So it's been a pretty quiet few days. Was at work on Wednesday, then at a meeting all morning on thursday and home by 2.30 not well and stayed off on friday. Alister and I havent left the house today and I feel a bit bad cos its a beautiful day outside but he is over the moon at playing in his room all day. Must tidy it tomorrow cos he's dragged everything out from under his cabin bed and now i cant see the carpet!

Saturday is pizza night - very exciting! Not sure what toppings we are going for tonight but might get a movie on on Sky and have piza followed by microwave popcorn. Rock & roll!

Have watched a few movies over the past few days, my favourite being Sexy Beast. What is it about Ray Winstone??? OOOOOOO!!!!! He's just such a proper blokey bloke! Also watched American Psycho which was mildly disturbing! And yesterday I watched Tarantino's Death Proof. And if you didn't know it was a Tarantino film, and he didn't have his usual couple of scenes in it you would still be able to guess it was him! Blimey. I loved it, but thinking back there wasn't much of a storyline more a stage for some gratuitous 70's style Dukes Of Hazzard stylee cars and driving. Oh and the brutal murders of course. But it was a really cool film, i loved it.

This is my first dry weekend for a long time. Off booze for the foreseeable future because of the medication i'm on. i think i'll miss the couple of glasses of red I usually have on a Saturday night for a little while but no doubt I'll soon forget about it. Would rather feel well quicker than partake in it.

Right i'm off to see what other films I can find to watch.
Have a good weekend all!

Alister is still being very unpredictable. The silliest thing sends him of into a nasty spiral of screaming, hitting, nipping, i got his nails dug into my face today... on Wednesday i hit rock bottom. The second I woke up i burst into tears. I got up, got him his breakfast, told him to clean his teeth and got the usual barrage of plain old nastiness. I took to my bed and just couldnt stop crying. I realised then that I either got up, gave myself a damn hard shake and got on with it, or I phoned the doc and faced up to the fact that I could feel myself slipping back into a very dark depression. I mentally kicked my own arse, had a shower, put a sparkly top on, put on some make up and a pile of spangly bracelets, GHD'd my hair to within an inch of its life til it was a sleek glossy sight to behold, kicked alister's arse into the bathroom then into his uniform and marched his skinny littl butt into school. HA!

But if i'm brutally honest, every day is a bit of an uphill battle right now. I just hope i dont run out of energy to climb...

Anyway - the rest of the week - I decided that my fear of remotely scary movies is ridiculous. I havent even watched any of the Scary Movie movies and i know they are spoofs but I JUST CANT!!!! So I am planning this week to watch American Psycho and Sexy Beast. Both an old school 18 rating so bring it on!

So Alister and I are just back from visiting the Formby Blairs. We had planned to leave after Al came out of school on Friday but he was up sick in the early hours of Friday and had a very high temperature. He, of course, was sick on my bedroom carpet. I think someone is trying to tell me to just get a new carpet!!!! So he rested on the sofa all morning, then i dragged him into my work for a bit where he was a huge help doing the invoices! Then we went to pick up the hire car. I've been thinking about getting a car once we get Gran Blair's flat sold and fancied a Kia. Just so happens the hire car was a brand new Kia Cee'd. Blimey it was lovely to drive! Weather permitting I will be driving to Dundee and back tomorrow and I cant wait to get out driving it again!!

So we got the car, got packed up, filled up with diesel and off we went. decent weather al in all which isn't normal for me on the M6, usually its the worst fog and rain the whole way! Arrived about 6pm Friday and left about 2.30pm today - got home at 7 so good time. Alister been lying in bed sobbing about wanting to go back but i think he's fallen asleep now.

He was great all weekend but had an almighty tantrum about sod all this morning including top of lungs screaming, screeching and roaring. Awful..... But we got home to a letter from the school doctor saying his follow up appointment is next monday so we need to talk about alister's anger problems with him before someone at school is on the receiving end of it and he ends up in serious trouble. I know nobody said parenthood was meant to be easy but it feels like I have been hit with every shit thing that kids go through. STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP JILL - kick your own ass, have a glass of wine and a couple of chocs and chill girl.....

night all.
love ya.
Jill
xxxxx

see, that's all my smiles! So....yes..... i had a party on Saturday night. I had a blast! Thank you to all my lovely guests.

I learned a lesson on Saturday night. Even if I sometimes wake up in the morning feeling old and knackered.... I am not actually old or knackered or even old and knackered. See - lesson learned. I did listen. Thank you wise one. Love you lots xxx

So anyway aside from my sentimental moment there, the party was a scream! There were some slightly surreal moments but what the hell, I might even do it again!

Not much else been happening, well, nothing I can put on here without offending anyone at least! Work is busy, Alister is still having Jeckyll and Hyde moments, my room still smells odd from Saturday (no names mentioned!) so I am continuing to sleep on the sofa bed until I can figure out my next move, going to get stuck into studying again next week and am looking forward to that. I've actually already read the first 3 chapters of my first course book so got a wee head start that I hope I can keep up.

Oh does anyone have any kids crafty ideas that I can use on Thursday that are chinese new yeary in nature??

Big news of the day is that Lynne is 30 today! And I fully intend to toast her big day once alister is packed off to bed. She came round earlier and we had choc fudge cake and candles and stuff. WE LOVE YOU LYNNIE!!!!!!!

Oh i fell in mud today!!! I went in to work to do the wages with Janet but it took til 3pm - nightmare. I got Alister from school, went to Asda, got home and realised i had left my keys in the office. I thought maybe the playing fields would be frosty enough to not be squidgy. They were but the wee hill to get up there was a mudslide but I went for it anyway and slid back down on my front! I was caked! And then realised I couldnt even go and get cleaned up cos I still didnt have my keys! Luckily Lynnie turned up then so jumped in the car and went to get the keys. What a muppet I am! But go on, admit it, its why you love me!!!

Right I am off to get Alister used to the fact that bedtime is looming. No doubt it will be met with a barrage of abuse, a few swear words and general stroppiness. Dunno where he gets it from <whistle>

Night all, Mrs B signing off for now. Big luv Jill xxxxx

*EDIT* in his defence Alister cleaned his teeth and jumped into bed no problem tonight. He is lying in bed singing but I can live with that!!

 Comments

#70 - Noisy neighbours

You know when you go for ages not noticing a noise but then you do and it's all you can hear? My neighbours are that noise.

They live upstairs from me and ages ago they put in laminate flooring. I thought no more about it except for the racket they made for about a week putting it in themselves. I first noticed a while back how much i could hear when I went to the loo and one of them went at the same time. Oh my god. I could hear every tinkle. Then I noticed i can hear their shower running. The grandkids stomp up and down the hall for hours on end, the dog skids across the floor, the barking now sounds like the dog is in the room with me (its a big dog!). Mr Upstairs got told off the other night for his stinky feet again. The washing machine sounds like it's going to come through into my kitchen. I hate being like this but the more noise I notice the louder it seems and the grumpier an old woman I am becoming.

"There should be a law against it!" I ranted to my mother. "There is" she helpfully replied. And do you know what? She's right, well sort of. You can't install laminate flooring in an upper flat without also putting down a silencing layer which costs a fortune. I can assure you, they have no such layer upstairs from me. Asides from that, their flat is a Council property. I emailed the Council to ask if they would allow laminate flooring to be installed in an upper flat. This was their response... "You must obtain permission from the council to have laminate flooring within flat type accommodation. If someone has not asked permission but has laminate flooring this will be reported to the Neighbourhood officer for there attention and action will be taken." Doesn't actually answer the question of whether permission would be granted but I'm hoping they wouldn't allow it.

However, if I go and make a complaint and a guy turns up at their door to investigate a report that they have 'illegal' flooring (I can't believe this is me talking about such nonsense!) then it's going to be glaringly obvious who made the complaint. And I don't fancy starting a feud with my neighbours. On the other hand it's driving me nuts, some nights their clomping around keeps Alister awake. We are no saints. On days when my fuse is short and Alister's nerves are of steel we make a fair din roaring and shouting at each other. But I feel like we have their whole family living with us some days

So I have emailed the council again to ask if the neighbourhod officers ever do regular inspections or something where they would pick up on it rather than me telling on them. Of course, maybe they did get permission. Maybe..... I'm off to bed. They usually like to drop something on the floor just as I am dozing off just to make sure I can still hear them before they get up at about 5am for no apparent reason other than to start clomping around again and doing long loud pees!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for listening
love ya
Jill
xxxxx

I could sooooooo be a stay at home mum!!!!

Right - the health kick is well and truly back. The house is heaving with fruit and veg. I feel loads better after just one day of not eating junk. The house is also heaving with chocolate, however, but a little of what you fancy never did anyone harm did it!?? Actually, my plan for now is to go back to basics with food. i.e. making stuff from the 2 Maw Broon's cookbooks! Cant wait til Sunday - we are having stew made with a nice big chunk of brisket and home made dumplings. who hoo!!!!!

We had a bit of a funny moment at tea time tonight. We had the good old Scottish staple of mince and tatties, with peas and carrots, then greek yoghurt with blueberries, strawberries and grapes. All very nice but then I was making up some tuna mayo sandwich filler to take to work tomorrow and Alister was clearing the table and washing it. Then I swept the floor and as I ran his bath he mopped the flor. It was all so bizarrely stress free - quite unlike the Alister i've known for the past 2 weeks!! Being back at school has obviously reminded him of the Alister he used to be!

So he is now in the bath, all the christmas presents have finally been put away since I had a lovely day to myself today so could get on with things.

Been trying to talk myself into doing the ironing tonight but i reckon if i have to talk myself into it i'd be best just leaving it til I feel like doing it. Might make a start on my new Uni course tonight instead. ho hum... (i'd put money on me actually playing MarioKart....)

bye for now.
High fives!
Jill
xxxxx

Night all.
May 2009 bring all your hopes and dreams to life.
Jill
xxxxx

Roll on Easter, it's much more civilised (apart from the whole throwing eggs around the countryside thing). I feel I am now craving normality, routine...... and fresh fruit and veg! I feel soooooooo sluggish and fat and unhealthy and generally like a big old dirty fat bloater. For that is precisely what I am!!

My gran's car was handed its death sentence today. Yet again, when we had it all sorts of things went wrong. This time it was a burnt out piston (it's 6 years old, come on!!!!) that means the engine has been condemned to Death Row. If anyone fancies going to Dundee to buy a 6 year old Corsa for spare parts, all offers will be considered!!!

Alister goes back to school tomorrow, I go back to work on Wednesday. I'm REALLY looking forward to tomorrow

So, Christmas was nice. My mum and gran came through and we all had a really lovely day. Went to Dundee on Boxing Day and Ross and Laura arrived on 27th. Ross and Alister and I went to Tannadice for the match and Alister was a mascot - he ws fab! His grandad would have been very proud.

Then we came home for a few days (in the now condemned car), and went back up on New Years Day. I went to bed at 10.15 on Hogmanay, very poor show but i just couldnt be arsed sitting up on my own. Martin and Alison and the girls were up in dundee by that time so we had a couple of days with them then came back (on the bus) on 3rd Jan.

Spent yesterday afternoon with josh, from Alister's class, and his mum Stephanie which was really nice then today we have had a well relaxing day playing with al Alister's new toys.

And here I am, just about to do an online tesco shop which will be mainly fresh fruit and veg in order to stop us both developing scurvy or turning into chocolate. Hope you all had a grand old time over the festive season and recover soon!

HUUUUUUGE luv to all.

Jill & Alister
xxxxx

Then we get there and they give him it as gas. Not good. What would you do if someone held a mask on your face and pumped really stinky gas at you? Precisely, you'd do everything you could to get away from it. He puled the mask away, pulled the pipe out, he had his nails well and truly sunk into me, had 5 of us holding him down at one point and eventually went under. I was a wreck!!!!

But he had 4 teeth out, came home, lay quietly for a few hours and was soon back to normal, minus some teeth and looking ridicuously cute for it!

We had a fairly quiet weekend (well, apart from alister going to a fancy dress bouncy castle party!) then Monday came round all too soon. We made Christmas cards at my craft class this week because I was feeling lazy. Took a pile of card, paper, pens, glitter, tinsel etc and told them to let their artistic juices flow (i.e. i just couldnt be arsed thinking up anything in particular for them to do!) God knows what we will do this week...... Maybe tree decorations. They enjoyed making modelling clay from flour and water before.

Then on Saturday my mum picked us up and we went to Dundee. Met up with my Uncle Bill from the States and Auntie Elsie for a coffee then took Alister to Dobbie's to visit Santa. Then today my mum and I went into town shopping and alister put his great gran's christmas decorations up for her. He had a ball and I got a few hours peace. Brought my gran's car back with us and the thermometer was reading -5 coming home. WAH! Proper frosty.

Going to go to Edinburgh to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow but am pretty organised this year and dont have much left to buy. All good! Meant to be meeting my mate Bobby for lunch which will be nice.

Right, I am off to pretend to be a pensioner and drink sherry and read Reader's Digest. It's not right I tell ya.... I'm only 34!!!!

Night all. High fives and big hugs.

That will be tomorrow then. Flip.

I am soooooo scared about him going under a general anaesthetic. And it doesnt matter how many things i read saying it will be fine blah blah blah, i am terrified. Alister is handling it well. He just knows he will go to sleep for a bit, have less teeth when he wakes up and be alowed to eat tomato soup and chocolate ice cream all day whilst watching his new Kung Fu Panda dvd. He's actually quite excited, i've done a hell of a job on him!!

Am going to go and have a small glass of wine and try to relax a bit. Wish it was this time tomorrow and it was all over with...

Alister had gone for about 4 or 5 nights not falling asleep til about 10pm. He was tired, cranky, downright unpleasant and yet still not sleeping. So out came the medised. Last night at 6.30pm he was lying on the sofa watching the tellybox with a fleecy blanket on him. At 6.40pm i told him to clean his teeth and he kicked off so i just ignored him. At 6.45pm he was absolutely flat out on the sofa snoring! Took him to bed and he woke up at 8am. He was still a little shit this morning and by tonight was resembling Kevin the Teenager but at least he got a decent nights sleep. And I didnt have to listen to him singing and acting out little scenes with his soft toys all flaming night.

Tonight he has so far had all his soft toys confiscated but seems to have fallen asleep mid-protest. Sigh.....

We are up early tomorrow to go to the hospital to get his teeth x-rayed. Should be interesting.

Work was funny today. This morning I spent an hour or so tracking down some tea/coffee pump dispensers and arranging delivery. Then another hour trying out stuff for my craft class, ended up making a sparkly christmas candle out of a toilet roll tube - looked really cool! Then had to go and find some gym mats cos I am hosting a personal safety and self defence course on saturday. Alister off school tomorrow for an in service day so he will come to work with me after the hospital. Will go armed with lots of dvds for him to watch!

right am off to chill for a bit before bed.

Big luv Jill xxxxx

This week is the first week that Janet and I are doing our proper jobshare days. Which means I am only working Wed-Fri. Lovely!!! Made some more home made vodka today. Following the sucessful production of Kola Kube flavour I tried Butterscotch and Rosy Apple flavour today. The Butterscotch one looks a bit murky but smells wicked!!

Tesco man came today, went for a nose round Asda and got a few wee stocking filler sweets for Christmas. I am soooo excited about Christmas. Not because i know alister will LOVE everything I have for him. Not because we are going to the panto in Dunfermline on Christmas Eve (front row, middle, of course!). Not because my muma nd gran are coming to us this year. Not because Alister will have his first Christmas at his own home. Not because of the lovely decorations and twinling lights.

No, I am excited because if Christmas is at my gaff then the stockings are MY job this year! I love opening my stocking usually but this year I can't wait to be the one up at midnight on Christmas Eve arranging stuff in my own living room and filling stockings for Alister, my mum and my gran (and me!). I have already got a few wee toys for alister's plus some nice sweets fo them all. I want to get a couple of nice wee extra things for my mum and grans ones too. Don't know what yet, maybe a nice wee pair of earrings or some nice little Sanctuary travel size bottles. Any ideas for this please fire them at me!!

So back to regular humdrum - Alister should have had swimming lesson tonight at 5.15pm but he didnt fall asleep until 10pm last night. So i decided it was an early night for him. Actually he was asleep before 7.30pm tonight so hoping he will feel better for it tomorrow.

We have the dentist tomorrow. Alister was suposed to get a tooth pulled out after he had an abscess on it months ago but he completely freaked out so he has been referred to the Community Dental Clinic. First appointment tomorrow is just to talk things over and try and put his mind at ease. GULP!!! And then tomorrow is Parents Evening at school. DOUBLE GULP!!!

So I am now going to lounge on the sofa for a bit watching rot on tv. Might even have a sofa snooze. Ahhhhhh....... peace, perfect peace.....

Love ya! Jill xxxxx

I didnt' travel the world
I didn't save it either
I have been on hold to Sky for what seems like 5 months
I have lost about half a stone in the past 3 weeks
I did run out of hours in the day. What with studying, working, mummying, housekeeping, sunday schooling and craft classing I just haven't had time to be here too.

I had my exam for my literature course in October, results due December 12. My gran blair died and I miss her. She was 95 and in a lot of discomfort by the end. I'm so thankful that I was able to spend her last few hours with her.

I didn't realise she was a very young woman but the info on Sky said she died at 28 and that roused my curiosity.

Never. Never ever. Never ever ever. Not ever. NEVER have I been moved to laugh and cry so hard at a TV feature length drama as I did tonight.

I didn't plan to blog tonight but my god I have just been so moved by this programme. I have seen it advertised on BBC4 loads of times but never ever watched it. Anna Madeley is amazing as Mrs Beeton (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0534777/) and I honestly sobbed over every child she lost. And when she realised her husband had syphillis and this is what was causing her children, and eventually herself, to die prematurely it was absolutely heart-breaking.

If you ever see it advertised try and make time to watch it.

alister and i had a fabulous long weekend in the lake district. We stayed in a lovely wee cottage near penrith. Right here to be precise.... http://www.andrewhousecottage.co.uk Many thanks to John and Tina for a lovely stay and especially thank you to John from Alister for letting him help with all the blokey stuff like making bonfires and mowing lawns! All good training for him to takeover gardening duties when he is bigger!

So that was nice. My mum has moved house and it's lovely. My Gran Blair is back in hospital again. What is it with us getting ready to go on holiday and her going into hospital??? Last time she went in we were setting off to Disneyland Paris. This time round we are off to Lanzarote. 8th June me, alister and lynnie all jet off for a week in the sun. Can't wait.
Before then, we are going to see Playhouse Disney on Tuesday at the playhouse in edinburgh but Alister doesnt know about it yet. He has been so good for so long that I thought i would surprise him. Then on thursday alister, lynne and i are all starting karate. Soooo looking forward to it! It's all free at Dunfermline police station. cool!!! http://www.jkawfs.co.uk/Police.html

Also have an essay due in on thursday and have only written about 50 words so far. Ah well, only 1450 to go! Then Alister has a birthday party at play planet on Saturday, then sunday school on sunday morning and off to the airport pretty much right after that. busy busy busy...... *EDIT* i forgot to say that it's Bon Jovi at Hampden on 21st June. Playing it down a bit cos I think Richie will propose on stage this year. Don't want to ruffle any feathers but really there were only so many blonde slim goddesses a man could date before he realised he loved a podgy pasty scottish lass Your wedding invites will all be in the post!!

Oh, I need to get some toiletries for the holidays. And maybe a couple moe vest tops. Oh the list could go on.....

Right...very chuffed that I have bloged but am off for an early night now.

This is silly. I really DO need to get this essay sorted out. In the meantime head on over to Mrs Badcrumble's Daily Challenge..... http://my.funtrivia.com/tournament/Mrs-Badcrumbles-Challenge-81362.html

Well, my dear readers, todays IS that day. Alle-flaming-lujah!

It's ok, i'm not really that disillusioned. I am, however, that busy. Alister has had his 5th birthday. The first anniversary has passed of my dad dying although I bumped into an old school friend today who didnt know. It never ceases to be fun trying to tell them really quickly without getting into it too deeply. "oh wow i havent seen you in years, excuse me whilst i sob uncontrollably on your shoulder!". It still doesnt seem real saying it out loud.

I have an OU essay due in on thursday and have finally tonight figured out some sort of idea of what I plan to write. Could be a late one tomorrow night cos I cant miss the Apprentice in order to do it on Wednesday night. How good was the start of the new series!!!????? Although, watching that won't help with discussing how Great Expectations is informed by contemporary social issues. Sigh...... I sometimes think it would be best to put the whole degree thing on hold for now maybe til Alister is at school and I have a bit more time but I know I would kick myself. It's just that every time I get set to get stuck into it just now I notice that the washing machine needs emptied or the ironing pile is 10 feet tall or the floor needs washed or I need to go to Asda etc etc. I really don't think I have enough hours in the day

Oh, before I waffle on anymore, the point of this blog is to track my weight loss efforts so here goes. had a couple of up and down weeks with birthdays and nights out etc but overall for the month have lost 2.5lbs. Not a huge amount but hell it's all flab vanishing from somewhere. I have, however, noticed everything shrinking in the way which I put down to callanetics. God it hurts but it's that good pain that tells you that you worked hard and deserve to lose and inch or two.

So what else has happened..... both brothers have been up, Fi turned ummm..ahem...cough....29 (and 12 months), my mum has sold her house and bought the one she loves, Granny B is home from hospital but not in particularly great shape (hell neither would you be at 95...),Alister is out of nursery for a couple of weeks and going to Easter classes at my work. Footy and swimming in the morning then drama and art in the afternon. Keeps him out of trouble.

It was 10 weeks yesterday til we go to lanzarote. Soooooooooooooooo can't wait! I will inflict my white wobbly body on the good people of the Canaries. Wait and see, it will be in all the local press!

So, in the extremely likely event that I don't blog again for a while this is the plan. Tomorrow night, essay writing. Wednesday, the apprentice (possibly finishing essay before that starts. Thursday night, assuming essay is done, ironing. friday, sod all. absolutely bugger all. bring it on! Ikea on saturday afternoon with Lynne then girly night in. Sunday. no sunday school. oh joy. Back to studying and it will be on to poetry, the bit i got bambozled by the last time I did this course. harumph. It will not beat me this time.

Right. am off to bed. sleep well all.

Love ya!
Jill
xxxxx

http://my.funtrivia.com/tournament/Mrs-Badcrumbles-Challenge-81362.html

Today we were at the dentist. I knew Alister had a wee bit ont he side of one tooth where food kept getting stuck and right enough he has a wee cavity. dentist says his oral hygiene is great and otherwise has nice teeth but to cut back on sugary treats. I don't think he gets many though. I'm sure every parent who gives a toss about their kids teeth would say that but honestly we have 2 big boxes of chocolate and sweets in our house that have barely been looked at since they were filled up after christmas. He gets the odd biscuit and sometimes a crispy cake or something at the weekend but most of his time is in nursery and i know they dont give them sugary stuff there. Anyway, my boy has been really grown up about it. we went to the cafe in M&S after the dentists and I said what did he want? He chose a glass of milk and a scone and butter,. didnt want a biscuit cos they are sugary and didnt want jam on his scone either! It's actually proving to be a really good learning exercise for him! He usually has a wee pancake and jam or toast and honey or something for supper but for now I will be stopping that too. he goes in to get it fixed on 25th March, the day after his birthday and he said he wouldnt eat any of his birthday cake. Bless him!!

So after that we had a walk home through the Glen, went into the glasshouse there and there are bananas growing in there now! Cool!

I have to work at 2 so this is juts a wee update for today. I have finally made a start on my essay for OU so tonight it is pick Alup, get to swimming lessons, home, tea, Al to bed and then get cracking on my essay. I want to finally get one in before midnight on the deadline date!

Have a good day now y'all!
Jill
xxxxx

So, following my maintenance week I have been very good so far this week (apart from the bacon roll at work yesterday but hell I was still under my calorie allowance so who cares??!!). I did 20 mins rebounding on my trampoline last night and have been for a good hard swim today. Forgot to stretch before i left the pool though so am a bit achey.

Bought Fi's birthday pressie today and am soooooo excited about it!! Got a SERIOUS bargain but won't say what it is cos I know you read this you little monkey!

Alister has swimming at 5.15pm so this is just a quickie if anyone fancies a go at the daily quiz really. Must get started on my essay tonight. No more excuses, not even the mountainous pile of ironing.

Oh before I forget I have added a few new widgets to the left of this blog. A couple fo links to my Just Giving site (pleeeeeeeeeease sponsor me, it's been stuck at £190 for MONTHS!) and a Google AdSense link which could earn me some cash if people click on it.

Weight stayed the same this week which I am very pleased about since I had mid-week wine with Fi which neither of us would usually bother with, plus a few wee treats. Then went out on Sunday ngiht for an Italian which I HAVE to insist you all go to if you ever find yourself in Dunfermline!!!

this is their website... http://www.ristorantestela.co.uk/ We got there at 6pm and there was a family just finishing up their meal. As soon as we sat down the lovely waiter asked what Alister would have so he could get it made quickly for him. Ally was horrified that the waiter was calling Fi and I 'darling' until we explained that he was just being friendly. Once he had eaten most of his pizza he hung out with the chef for a bit. they had a good old chat about nursery and what not, so funny, Alister looked terrified! Then he was whisked off to the kitchen to prepare his own dessert. A fine choice of strawberry ice cream with squirty cream on top, chocolate sauce, sprinkles and a wafer. Excellent! Fi and I were still eating and supping at this point so he started to wander round and have a wee boogie to the cheesy italian music playing as well as running round not letting the waiter catch him. They are all bonkers! Then he ended up in the kitchen drying dishes! I was sooooo chilled out, I can't remember ever eating out with alister and actually relaxing! The italians really know how to create a fantastic family atmosphere. Thank you for a really lovely night!

And so we are at Monday. Tonight I did a bit of a workout on my rebounder, then had some pasta and veg for tea, then should have done some studying but went online and started a search for a mothers day present. So thats ordered, all good. Won't say what it is incase my mum reads this before Sunday!

Now going for a shower and half an hour chilling out before bedtime.

Goodnight all.
Love ya,
Jill
xxxxx

So instead of studying tonight I have been trawling the net looking for an alternative. have found flights from Edinburgh to Majorca at decent times for about the same price and Nikki is going to try and sort out the accommodation tomorrow. Just such a pain in the arse! I really need to get some studying done cos I have a tutorial on Saturday but I have spent 2 hours sorting out this holiday. Sigh... tomorrow....

Fi is coming to stay tomorrow for a few nights, as I said yesterday so I am hoping having someone here to keep a beady eye on me will spur me on to get my head in the books.

Anyway, all that aside - I lost another 3.8lbs this week. yay me. It has taken me to the next stone so it feels even better! that is now 2 stone I ahve lost since i started this sponsored slim although the sponsorship sort of dried up months ago. have emailed everyone again today to see if I can squeeze any cash out of anyone to get the ball rolling again. http://www.justgiving.com/jillblair

And whilst I am shamelessly plugging things I would remind you that if you are ever stuck for some decent live music in the Leeds area then track down these guys... http://www.twistoffate.org.uk/

So, Tuesday tomorrow, day off. We spend the morning doing housework or reading with Alister then Al goes to school nursery and I get to go for my swim. My lovely peaceful swim.... Last week I had the pool to myself for 10 mins at one point. I imagined I was in my own pool in my mansion but that dream soon got blasted out of the water, so to speak, when another few punters appeared. Ah well, it was nice while it lasted!

Right, am off to try and read a bit of coursework before bedtime although I am too sleepy now to take much in probably. Maybe settle for a cuppa and a digestive!

Alll good! Oh and then there's the studying of course. So glad I decided to restart A210 - Approaching Literature (my preferred way to approach literature is using a stealth like ninja warrior type approach so it doesnt hear or see me coming...theeeeeeeen.......WAAAAAAAH!!!!!!! scares the shit out of it every time). My last tutor on it was horrendous. Never answered questions til it was too late, if at all. No support if you couldnt get to tutorials it was really awful. This time I have a tutor who has sent us out notes before the tutorial so we know what we will be discussing and a suggestion that he could pass on email addresses of people who want to form a self help group etc. So much better already.

Been up in Dundee this weekend. Been to see all the grannies etc so job done there. Went to the cemetery today, it would have been my dad's 60th this thursday not sure what but I think I will plant something in the garden to remember him by. Actually just been looking online and think i might get an olive tree for it. Sounds cool....

Weight in tomorrow, am hoping to break a stone barrier. Wont say which number but I will be VERY chuffed if i do it!

Fi is coming to stay for a couple of nights this week cos Scottish Gas are doing something at her gaff. Will be lovely to have her stay again and under not so horrible circumstances as last time! That's Tues, Wed & possibly Thu. Alister has swimming on tuesday and wednesday, I have callanetics on thursday, tutorial on Saturday then back to Sunday School. busy busy busy....

Night all.
See you all soon
Big love,
Jill
xxxxx

He hasn't behaved well enough to see any of it since Tuesday!

This morning he watched it all then I had promised we would play with the stuff he got for Christmas that he hasn't opebned yet. so we spent a couple fo hours playing with some games and a badge machine and puzzles etc. It's been quite a sunny day even though it's freezing. It was looking like we were just going to lounge around the house all day so instead we got wrapped up and went for a nice lnog walk. it was one of those moments where just being with someone special makes you grin from ear to ear! We were out for around an hour, then went to asda before going home and we laughed the whole way. It was just lovely !

At 4pm High School Musical was on the Disney Channel and Alister decided he needed it on telly AND on his portable dvd player at the same time. I said he couldnt (really, it's bad enough having it coming from 1 source!!!) and an almighty tantrum kicked off. Although to give him credit where it's due I sent him to his room to calm down and there was no kicking the door or screaming or anything. He just sat on his bed and played with one of his toys til iw ent in to talk to him.

My boy is all bunged up with the cold just now too, god love him. His face is just a big runny bogey mess! Oh just remembered why I started this blog today! Have been nibblinglike mad on choclate for days. Don't even want it so am going to clear loads of it out cos Al doesntget much anyway. But am still hoping to have lost a pound or two this week. As there is stuff all on telly tonight, my fave text buddy is playing a gig and I am generally just bored but can't be bothered getting my Uni books out I decided to measure myself. In the past 3 weeks I have lost an inch from my chest and 2.5 inches from my waist. Rock on!! Every little bit of motivation helps! So am now determined not to nibble on rubbish.

Had liver for tea tonight. It was gorgeous! I know lots of people think it's mingin but I love liver and kidney. Mmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

Tomorrow we have Sunday School then I am taking Alister out for lunch cos I ahve a hair appointment at 1.45pm. My gran was going to come through from dundee to watch al whilst I went myself but with the weather being a bit loopy just now I told her not to bother. he can take both HSM dvds and his portable player and that should amuse him for a few hours whilst I get my hair done. Getting it brown on top and BRIGHT red underneath and my layers chopped into a bit more. cant wait!

Right, am off to surf the net for a bit then probably have an early night since I am soooo bored.

night all.

He got sent to his room to have a think about everything whilst I straightened my own head out. So chuffed cos I didnt lose it with him. After 5 mins I went into his room and told him he wasn't sent to his room for having a tantrum but for punching me. He honestly doesnt know why he acts like this and he sat and sobbed that he loves me and you cant love someone you punch and I would think he doesnt love me etc etc. We had a long talk and he decided he would like to read a book on his bed for a bit so he did. All was well after that. We laughed and sang walking to nursery but he had an appalling afternoon there. hitting kids and adults and throwing chairs and sliding over the lunch table. Awful. Its so tiring being asked into the office for a chat every time I go for him. I haven't even handed out his birthday patry invites cos at the moment I am worried none of the kids will want to come.

Anyway, the nursery are still trying to get hold of the health visitor. As much as I am handling things just now it is only going to take one major episode for me to suddenly snap and I really would rather help him than end up walloping him in sheer rage. That's not going to fix anything. But I am just exhausted with it. I might not have resorted to comfort eating but i think i will have a cheeky G&T tonight. I wish I understood him. I wish he understood it himself. I just feel so helpless and not even particularly cross at him now. I just wish I could make it better for all of us.

Am going to do a Tesco online shop for now. trying to keep his diet as additive/preservative free as I can but it's amazing - everything has them in. Fruit squash, cooked meat, yoghurt...everything. Will try my best though.

This afternoon, after nursery, we made flapjacks together with HSM playing on his portable DVD in the kitchen. A jolly nice time we had too. And if you ever have the urge to make flapjacks can i suggest you add a mashed up banana into the mix? Very nice indeed.

So this morning I did the cleaning, then took Alister to nursery,i went for my swim. it was sooooo busy in the pool today. Everyone bumping into each other. I woke up with a nightmare of a stiff neck and back, have no idea what I was doing in my sleep but I remember there was a certain plumber involved in my dream last night so was probably trying to knock his block off..... And I still have a wobbly tap and a bit missing from the light over my mirror. Harumph.... Thought the swim would sort it out and it did for a bit but by the time I got some food shopping in M&S and traipsed back down the road in the pouring rain with a swim bag, bag of shopping and trying to hold an umbrella it was really sore again. Just had a lovely jacuzzi and it feels better again for now.

Oh I got a call from nicky who booked our holidaytoday. Our lovely handy 7am flight to lanzarote from Edinburgh now leaves at 4 in the afternoon and gets us home at 2 in the morning!! Nonsense! Luckily they are going to transfer us onto a much pricier Glasgow flight for no extra charge. it leaves at 9am and we get home at 7pm. Not as good as the Edinburgh ones but better than 2am!!

So that's about all that happened today. It's been rainy, grey, yuk... Martin (my big brother) was supposed to be staying here tonight cos he was going to the Dundee Utd v Aberdeen game in Edinburgh but the game was called off. he got as far as Gretna and had to turn back. Awwwwww.....

Night all
Love you lots
Jill
xxxxx
